For ZOLA brow and lash lamination the technician chooses from five systems: Lamination System Brow&Lash and Protein Reconstruction System have three formulas each, Color Lab Classic and Color Lab Emotion have two colored formulas each, and Lamione One Step is one formula instead of two. Color Lab is sold separately in 3 × 1 ml sachets.

The choice depends on the number of steps and on whether the kit needs a third formula for care. The table below shows what is in each system and how long to leave the formulas on. Always check the minutes for your bottle against the instructions in the package.

Lamination System, Color Lab, Lami and Lamione One Step: what is the difference

ZOLA systems differ in the number of stages, in whether there is a third formula for care, and in working time, and this is what the technician uses to choose a kit for the task.

A three-step system, Lamination System or Protein Reconstruction, is taken when the procedure needs a finishing care step with a third formula. Lamination System sets the time of formula 1 by hair type, from fine to coarse, while ZOLA describes Protein Reconstruction for coarse, normal and weakened hairs with adjustable timing.

The two-color Color Lab Classic System or Color Lab Emotion is taken when colored formulas are needed: the color separates the stages of the procedure. The third stage in the Color Lab line is added separately, for example with formula 03 Hyaluronic Green Elixir.

Lamione One Step is chosen when the procedure time needs to be shortened: it is one formula instead of two, left on for 3-12 minutes depending on the hair type. Color Lab in 3 × 1 ml sachets suits mobile work and trying the system before a full kit.

Formulas 1, 2 and 3 for brow lamination: what each one does

In the ZOLA three-step systems, formula 1 opens the cuticle scales of the hairs, formula 2 fixes the new shape, and formula 3 cares for the hairs. In Lamione One Step the active action and the care are combined in one formula.

ZOLA recommends using Protein Strong Lifting only together with step 2, and Protein Fixer only together with step 1. Separate Lami 1, 2 and 3 formulas, 10 ml each, are in the brow and lash lamination category.

ZOLA brow lamination: step-by-step instructions

ZOLA brow lamination goes in this order: cleansing and degreasing, formula 1, formula 2, formula 3. Below is the order for a system with three formulas, and the minutes for each system are given in the table above.

  1. Cleanse and degrease the brows: ZOLA foam or the ZOLA Clean Touch degreasing toner will do, which is intended for degreasing before lamination, protein reconstruction and tinting. Comb the hairs with a disposable brush.
  2. Apply formula 1 to the hairs and spread it evenly along the brow. Leave it on according to the hair type: fine hairs for less time, coarse hairs for longer. For Protein Strong Lifting the skin is first protected with ZOLA Save Skin cream applied in a thin layer.
  3. Remove formula 1 with a cotton pad moistened with water.
  4. Apply formula 2 and lay the hairs in the desired direction. In Lamination System it is left on for as long as formula 1, and Protein Fixer is left on for 7-8 minutes.
  5. Remove formula 2 with a damp cotton pad.
  6. Apply formula 3: Keratin Serum for 2-3 minutes until absorbed, without rinsing, Protein Care for 3-5 minutes with the residue removed by a damp cotton pad.

3 steps of ZOLA lamination, Lamination System Brow&Lash. Formula 1 (Lifting Gel): opens the cuticle scales of the hairs, 6-12 min by hair type; Formula 2 (Volume Fixer): fixes the new shape, the same as formula 1; Formula 3 (Keratin Serum): cares for the hairs, 2-3 min do not rinse off. For the minutes of other ZOLA systems, see the instructions in the box.

If tinting is needed after lamination, ZOLA recommends ZOLA dye for Color Lab Classic System. For Lamione One Step, tinting with an oxidizing dye and ZOLA restorative products are recommended.

How long to leave the formulas on and how long lamination lasts

ZOLA timing depends on the system and the hair type: formula 1 in Lamination System is left on for 6-12 minutes, in Color Lab Classic System for 6-13 minutes, in Lamione One Step for 3-12 minutes. The protein formulas Protein Fixer and Protein Care are left on for 7-8 and 3-5 minutes respectively.

ZOLA states how long the result lasts for two systems: up to 8 weeks for Color Lab Classic System and up to 4-6 weeks for Lamione One Step. The real period depends on the condition of the hairs and on care, so it is given to the client as a guideline, not as a guarantee.

For care after the procedure the line has Botox Cure, 15 ml, which is used regularly to maintain the lamination effect.

Brow lamination at home or in a salon: what you need for the procedure

For ZOLA brow lamination you need the formulas of the chosen system, a cleansing and degreasing product, a disposable brush, cotton pads with water and, if needed, brow film. For lash lamination, silicone rollers and glue are added.

ZOLA Brow&Lash Lamination System set on a brow master's table with cotton pads, disposable brushes, tweezers, cling film, a towel and a mirror, a couch and a ring lamp behind

ZOLA describes Color Lab Classic System as a kit convenient for both home and salon use, while the Lami 1, 2 and 3 formulas are marked as intended for professional use only. Before the first procedure, read the instructions in the package and do an allergy test.

ZOLA lash lamination: do the same formulas work

The Lamination System, Protein Reconstruction and Color Lab Classic formulas are intended for both brows and lashes, and Lamione One Step is described as a mono-system for brows and lashes. For lashes the preparation changes: silicone rollers and glue are needed.

The order for lashes is as follows: cleanse the lashes with a degreaser, comb them with a disposable brush, choose a roller by the length of the lashes and the desired curl, fix the roller with glue and lay the lashes on it in small portions. Then formulas 1, 2 and 3 are applied. In Lamination System, formula 2 is left on for as long as formula 1, and formula 3 for 2-3 minutes.

To fix the lashes on the rollers, use Lash Lift Glue, 5 ml or Lami Balm Orange 15 g, and the rollers themselves are in the brow and lash lamination category.
